Porthcurno Telegraph Museum
In 1870, Porthcurno began its life as an important centre of international communications. It was in this year that a chain of telegraph cables linking Britain with India was completed. Porthcurno was chosen as the landing point for the British end of this cable link.
Porthcurno is situated just three miles away from Land's End, the most south-westerly point of Cornwall. The museum is a focus for research into the history of the parish of St Levan. There is a local history research centre run by part-time staff and a team of local volunteers. There is a large collection of old photographs of life in the parish, documents and artefacts many of which are on permanent display.

Directions
By Car
If you are driving from Penzance, follow the signs to Land's End on the A30. Turn left at the sign for St Buryan, "Wartime Telegraph Museum" (that's us!) and "Minack Theatre". Keep going straight through St Buryan village and after about 2 miles of narrow lanes, take the left turn to Porthcurno. Non-disabled visitors park at the main car park at the bottom of the hill where there is a charge from Easter to September.
