Framlingham Castle
Framlingham Castle is a magnificent specimin of a late 12th-century castle. Built by Roger Bigod, Earl of Norfolk, one of the most influential people at the court of the Plantagenet kings, the castle was designed both as a stronghold and a proclamation of power and status. Architecturally, the fortress is notable for its curtain wall with regular mural towers, being an early example of this style.
Visitors can explore over 800 years of life at Framlingham Castle in an introductory exhibition in the Poorhouse.
